Video: Shots fired despite of Govt claims - Iran

As The Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday, amateur video has surfaced online that appears to contradict the Iranian government’s claim that its security forces did not shoot at protesters last Sunday, during demonstrations that left at least eight people dead.

On the soundtrack of the video, as The L.A. Times notes, a man can be heard shouting, “Dishonorable Basiji!” blaming a member of the pro-government Basij militia for firing the shots. My colleague Nazila Fathi adds that before the crowd charges after the gunman in the video, shouts of “Hamleh!” which means “Attack!” can be heard. Ms. Fathi explains that the incident took place near the Karim Khan bridge in Tehran, which can be seen near the end of the clip.
